Your Vision, My Illustrations

Crafting Storytelling Together

At ShellyCPaints, I believe that every illustration should enhance the story behind it. When you embark on the journey of commissioning an illustration or series of illustrations, a step-by-step process is designed to ensure that every detail is captured, resulting in artwork that speaks to your vision for your project.

01

Story Time

The process begins with a simple conversation. I invite you to share your ideas, inspirations, and what drives your passion for the story you want to tell. This can be anything from a mural on a wall, a compilation of poems, a children's book, a favorite memory or imaginary character.

02

Vision Time

Whether it’s a color you love, a theme you want to explore, or a memory you’d like to immortalize, every detail you provide will guide our creative journey.  I will sketch out a plan that encapsulates your concept and vision, making sure we are aligned every step of the way. Once finalized, it’s time to bring your artwork to life!

03

Studio Time

I will dive into the creation process, using top-quality materials to ensure that every line and brush stroke embodies your unique story. As your illustrator, I will keep you updated with progress images, asking for criticism, changes and polishing as we go, making this a collaborative experience.

04

Print Time

Finally, images will be scanned and sent digitally according to the printers' required format (.tiff, jpg., svg., or pdf.) From here, the illustrations can be layered upon and made into a publication.  Original illustrations can be obtained as well.

Children's Book

The Coin Machine
Story by Chelsea Kilanowski

"I have this great idea for a children's book- here's the thing, there are no words..."- Chelsea Kilanowski (author)

You got it.  This book is all illustrations and the story is meant to be told by the child "reading" it to an adult.  The story follows a boy who is obsessed with a particular color toy from a vending machine and how he spends time and energy pursuing it.  Does he ever get it?  How will the child "reading" it to you tell you how it ends?

Labels

Maple Syrup Bottle Illustrations

This is a growing collection of labels created for a local maple syrup sugarmaker who does everything from tapping and collecting sap to slowly cooking it down and filtering it to the delicious golden brown maple syrup. These labels were each created to capture a special moment or memory from that harvest year.
