Recovering Vitality II
Medical Scan Art
Recovering Vitality II continues the artist’s exploration of the human body as both a site of fragility and profound strength.
In this series, medical scans—MRI images, X-rays, and other diagnostic views—are transformed into intimate portraits that merge the clinical with the deeply personal. Each work intertwines medical imagery with biographical details, creating a layered visual narrative that honors both the physical realities of illness and the inner lives of those who endure them.
The exhibition features representations of conditions such as multiple sclerosis, lung cancer, hip and knee replacements, a broken wrist, miscarriage, and heartache—each one a story of endurance, adaptation, and faith. The artist wishes to express her gratitude to the patients and their families who entrusted her with creating artworks as unique and special as they are while acknowledging that recovery is never an individual journey; it extends to loved ones who must also heal, grieve, and rediscover vitality in the face of loss or uncertainty.
Through these works, the artist invites viewers to look beyond diagnosis—to see beauty where pain resides, to recognize faith as a sustaining force, and to find renewal in the shared human experience of resilience.
Recovering Vitality II becomes not only a reflection on healing, but a celebration of life’s capacity to regenerate meaning, connection, and strength.
